The VAMFF Writing Series 2016 has opened its doors, providing an opportunity for next generation writers.

Following the success of the 2015 program, Virgin Australian Melbourne Fashion Festival [VAMFF] returns in 2016 with its popular VAMFF Writing Series. With entries now open for the program, it offers aspiring fashion writers the opportunity to be mentored by some of the local industry’s senior writers and editors, including Manuscript’s own editor-in-chief Mitchell Oakley Smith alongside veteran newspaper reporter Janice Breen Burns and i-D editor Briony Wright. This mentorship program extends beyond Manuscript’s regular print and online remit to encompass Mr Oakley Smith’s broader projects, including books and exhibitions. To enter, applicants should complete the online application form by 2 October 2015 with a sample of their writing. Last year’s winner of the VAMM Writing Series, Hung Tran, recently moved to Sydney from Melbourne, where he now serves as Manuscript’s features writer, covering seasonal fashion collections, daily news and cultural movements.
