The grand palatial Palace of Versailles is set to become a hotel following a multi-million dollar renovation

Unless you’re Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, the most intimate one get with the Palace of Versailles is a guided tour around its grounds. Ever since it re-opened to the public, the palatial French palace has still been largely restricted, although in a report by Smithsonian, the gilded grounds are soon to become a hotel. While you still won’t be permitted residence in one of the palace’s 700 rooms, including those once lived in by King Louis XIV, a five-star, 23-room hotel is being constructed on the grounds of Versailles, converting a series of 17th-century buildings. Given its luxury status, accommodation is bound to be on the expensive side, but completion is some years off yet, so there’s plenty of time to save.
