A to Zambesi

Quite how a country as small and remote as New Zealand produces such innovative design is a wonder. Perhaps that's just it - the disconnection from the rest of the world spurring new creation. In any case, we at Manuscript are taken aback by the slickness of Zambesi's autumn/winter menswear collection: a study, it seems, in tailoring traditions, demonstrated progressively with a collection that on the end seems schoolboy-like, and the other, 19th century formal. Menswear designer Dayne Johnston knows his way around a suit, and in this largely black and white collection - one of the label's finest to date - he interrogates it endlessly.
