INTRODUCING: EMMA MULHOLLAND

Having been selected as one of four TAFE Design Institute graduates to show at Australian Fashion Week in 2011, Emma Mulholland proved herself as one to watch from her very beginning. Following this initial exposure, Ms Mulholland was first runner-up in the recent Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards and at this year's fashion week presented her spring/summer collection that continues a playful feud between dark and light.

What is the idea behind this collection?
It's a '90s basketball game between two lizards found in the harsh Mexican desert. The 'gila monsters' are mean and out to kill on the court while the iguanas are cool, chilled and just want to play ball.

How is that communicated through clothing?
Though the prints and the fabrication, which are wearable and sporty, with lots of mesh and jersey. There is also two silk bombers with the team logo embroidery.

How do you sum up your brand?
An explosion of print, embellishment and irreverence.
